Meghan kicks off African Royal Tour in Mayamiko wrap dress

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked off Day 1 of Royal Tour Africa with a visit to a 'Justice Desk' workshop in the township of Nyanga that educates children about their rights and safety, and provides self defence and female empowerment training for young girls in the community.

As I've said previously, she generally looks better in these cheaper dresses, which fit her body, than in the ill fitting haute couture. One tends to look better when one is comfortable in one's clothing.

I think this is a good look, including the hair.

I do notice, however, that she removed her diamond engagement ring.

Totally agree! I think she looks better in these looks, probably she feels more herself in them than the "royal" looks.
So far she is looking great!

I wanted to add that I looked at the Mayamiko website and saw a lot of really nice items. It reminds me of a new designer that I discovered this year--Stella Jean-- who is Haitian but works in Italy. Her summer 2019 collection used similar fabric designs. The Mayamiko items are not quite as fashion forward, but the price point is more attractive.

I love this look...this brand and the artisans behind it. Any ideas on the necklace...really like it.

I personally don’t like wedges at all..but think these were a great choice for that dress and visit.

I think she looks beautiful and love her outfit. I have a curiosity question. Is Meghan's hair that long or is she wearing hair extensions?

If you look at older photos, pre Harry, her hair is much thinner. I believe that she now always wears a weave or a full wig , as her hair is thicker and some past photos have shown the extension clips.

Today's hair seems to be a wig that she first wore to this year's polo match.

The Duchess looks great in this dress, it fits her well and it is an appropriate dress for the event. I am not a fan of wedges, but these work in really well with what she is wearing and looks good. I just love the subtle jewellery, very pretty pieces. I don't like bare necklines at all, I always love the fine but beautiful pieces the Duchess wears on occasion.

I don't like the dress at all. Yes, it befits the occasion but I truly don't think it looks good on Meghan. I like the brooch she's wearing though. Curious that she's not wearing her engagement ring.

I obviously don’t know her personal thoughts behind this...but I have never worn my diamond to South Africa. And neither has anyone I know. For those of us without bodyguards, it is mainly a safety thing.it is also seen as disrespectful in the townships to flaunt that kind of wealth. This is a very common thing to do for Americans when traveling there. Reduce the amount of what would be considered flashy jewelry and just wear a simple band or simple earrings.
