In general, this outfit is ok. Her hair seems unusually messy for an event.

I do think the skirt is too short for sitting on stage. This is not specific to Meghan as both Melania and Ivanka Trumo have received backlash for this very thing in the US press lately. They have lengthened their hems adcordingly. Even if you go to see the symphony..they have rules for how long skirts can be when they are on stage. A more modest hemline would be appropriate here.

Actually her hair is not messy at all. When you look at the last photo on this side, you get the impression that 4 strings are standing up at the back but that is the wallpaper and not her hair.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am not going to debate hairstyles on IWD. But I will say, Annie Lennox is a goddess and those boots!!!

You're right msbrattyy. I removed that photo because I felt if may cause an "messy hair" debate when in fact it was just the wallpaper.

I, for one, LOVED her hair.

I think Meghan may be wearing the Jennifer Meyer Mini Huggies with Diamond Diamond Drop earrings. :)

Nice dress but really needs to master how to sit like a royal and not a TV actress.

I agree. Crossed ankles would be much more appropriate, especially on stage.

The dress is lovely as is the blazer. Completely inappropriate for the occasion. It is far to short for an forum where she is sitting in front of an audience on a podium. This is a forum discussing serious matters and on occasion where she has been named the Vice President of the Queens Commonwealth Trust. This is a job, and unfortunately the length of the dress conveys a lack of professionalism. Would have been so much better at an engagement where she was mainly standing.

I love the dress, but have to agree that this was the wrong time to wear it. It’s a very unprofessional look to sit in front of an audience in. This would be for anyone not just her.

Absolutely Karen you hit the nail on the head. It’s not a good look for any woman in this setting.

Nice chic look. Unfortunately, she has to sit at this function and thus, appropriateness of hem length debate goes on.

I love the shoes. I would have preferred she pick a different clutch purse. I hate the gold. Distracts from the black and white theme.

Though, reaching late pregnancy, how long can she wear them high stilettos in comfort? Just wondering.

Hi Liz,
Thank you for your website! I find it very informative. Can someone please explain to me the significance (if any) of the Duchess wearing the Commonwealth brooch?

Thanks Chantal! The brooch has no significance other than it's the logo of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. I believe it's just a branding piece with no real value.

Meghan has been named Vice President of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. Meghan will work alongside the Queen and Harry, the trust's president. The International Woman's Day was the first opportunity of formally working together with QCT and I think this Commonwealth brooch means a lot to Meghan. Congratulations to Meghan, very well deserved.

Yes you are right Edith, I'm sure this new role means a great deal to Meghan and I hope you didn't think my comment about the brooch was dismissive of her important role. I was just referring to the brooch and that it has not historical royal value, and it's simply symbolic of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust. I'm sure Meghan wore it with great pride :)

I think she looks very chic and love everything about this look including the length. It’s young and fresh — no need for her to look dowdy beyond her years.

I love the look...but don't like the bare legs for this particular dress.
She Looks very pretty like always.

Sorry, but this dress is WAY too short for anyone, let alone a pregnant woman.

I'm not sure. I like the length on her with this outfit. Makes her look chic. It's just like I said above, unfortunate the day included sitting is all.
