During the event, attendees shared their stories of recovery and preparation for the Invictus Games 2025. On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Nigeria, launching a three-day private visit to the West African nation, where they will be promoting Invictus Games as well as the themes of mental health and female empowerment.
Their first engagement at the Lightway Academy in Abuja was to launch Nigeria's first-ever Mental Health Summit, the result of an expanded partnership between The Archewell Foundation and The GEANCO Foundation. Outside the school, students lined up to welcome the royal couple, alongside a troupe of dancers.
During the event, the Duchess connected with students, expressing, "I see myself in all of you." Meghan's eagerness to join her husband on the visit stemmed from her own Nigerian heritage, as revealed by a genealogy test in 2022, indicating a striking 43% connection to the country.
