Meghan makes surprise visit to new patronage, Smart Works

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise visit to Smart Works today for her first public engagement of 2019!

Ahead of Meghan's arrival at the organisation's West London headquarters, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess is the new Royal Patron of the charity that helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women regain the confidence they need to get jobs, succeed at job interviews, return to employment and transform their lives.

Also announced today were three other organisation's that the Duchess of Sussex will become Patron of. You can read the full statement on the official Royal website.

Meghan looks chic and professional, except for the shoes. The PVC is very tacky and I would have preferred if the pumps were a full calf print rather than a mix with cheap plastic. I'm not sure the earrings work with this outfit either.

Have you seen the price of those shoes?! The plastic is not cheap, that style of shoe is actually quite popular. It doesn't look cheap or tacky at all, it is just perhaps outside the norm for most, but it works well with the outfit.

I have to agree in part - I hate the PVC on shoes trend. Just because the shoes cost a lot doesn't mean it isn't cheap and tacky looking.

I hate the 'toe cleavage' look.

Cute coat, dress, gloves and bag though.

Classy outfit! I love the collar on the coat. Is that a gold thumb ring too? Looks like a horseshoe or crescent moon. Always little surprises in her jewelry.

This is a beautiful and classy outfit. I love the combination of tan and black. The cow print shoes are a fun touch, although I do agree the PVC is slightly tacky, and maybe a full calf print would have been better. But good for Meghan for rewearing something "old", and for choosing a dress that doesn't cost thousands of dollars.

I am wearing a cheaper, non pregnancy version of this outfit today so I love it! I quite like the shoes...it is a nice change from neutral colors.

I love this look. You can usually never go wrong with a LBD. The Duchess looks chic and polished. But....can we please talk about those shoes?! I love them! If anyone finds any shoes that resemble them, please post it here. Also, the earrings are pretty cool!

The dark colours maybe a slimming effect on her behalf. She is pregnant and she is glowing with good health that is all that matters. I know some are complaining about the constant dark colours. Love the bag its unusual and earrings quirky. Media should leave her be. She has enough stresses coming from other sources and doesn't need that especially now, this should be one of the happiest times of her life, never good for mum to be or baby on board anxiety and tension. Thank you for a great blog.

I love that coat - it is beautiful! You can’t tell in these photos, but I was quite surprised how wrinkled the back was. That, and the price tag, are the only things preventing me from purchasing one 😂

The other day I thought that swing coats are out of fashion and then I saw the photos of Duchess Meghan. Brilliant! I really like the coat. I am certain that Duchess Meghan knows which colours and clothes she likes and in which she feels comfortable, I respect this. I know people whose wardrobe is all black, no other colours. They are very successful business people. I also like the shoes, they are fun. Queen Letizia also has quite a few pairs with this "plastic". The same goes for Amal Clooney.
