The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their debut appearance together at Royal Ascot today. The couple joined Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family for the opening day of the racing festival.

Meghan looks lovely and I adore the outfit but I was hoping for some colour today.

Looks like she's taking a leaf out of Letizia's book who is capable of reeling off half-a-dozen black and white outfits in succession. She has two new ones on her current US tour, both look fresh and lovely, one is Hererra for evening and the other a new label for her, Cano, with vibrant polka dots.

Perfect. Love the subtle lace making a simple shirt dress right for the day. She looks good in white, so why not? Love the thin belt, always a plus with her type of figure. She's wearing the proper foundation garment to add further definition. And that hat! It's elegant and flirty at the same time. As I said, perfect.

I love your heading! What a fantastic outfit, the hat is superb with its swoops and spikes giving a different look to Meghan from every angle. Genius. The Givenchy tailoring is a huge treat to see, I love taking the potentially severe lines of a shirtwaister and making them feminine with beautiful soft fabric. I'm not so sure about the lacework on the sleek lines but I guess embellishment is all the thing now and it only came into view on close-ups. Is this the first outing for this clutch, I thought Meghan had something like this before. Hard to tell when she has so many small black purses! Overall a complete win for Meghan here.

Notice how every other Royal has their name tag on but her.

Camilla did not have on a name tag. It is not required.

This look to me is disappointing. The dress is not complimentary to her figure. The black belt is too harsh against the cream dress. The style of hat doesn’t match the dress. As well, the style is not the best for the duchess. I hope she breaks from Givenchy and instead uses Stella McCartney. Her dress by far has been the best look and it didn’t wrinkle horribly. Plain and modern has its place but not at Ascot.

I quite agree. There have been some comments about Meghan only wearing high end labels since getting married as if she’s “too good” to wear high street. I think seeing Meghan in the Givenchy outfit (with the shoulder covering) when she was out with the queen, which was chic and timeless, yet still modern justifies the high price tag. That outfit fit her like a glove. But this and the floral shirt dress for the wedding? Why spend thousands on I’ll fitting “bespoke” dresses when the $35 dress from Land’s End is cut better?

Hmmm, first glance and its really good. Then you look closer. I am not wild about the embroidery and the flat looking collar. Perhaps if the collar was more structured. Looks like its come home from the dry cleaners and its been left in the plastic bag too long and has set. Love the shape, particularly the bottom and the hat is lovely.

This whole ensemble is just awful. Who is helping her pick her clothes? They should be fired. The blue/white dress swallowed her and this one is too casual for Ascot.

I'm not crazy about this dress. Makes her look matronly. Love the hat though!
