I've seen a video of this day. Her navy coat & dress does not look navy in the video. They look like black. (The only thing that looked navy in the video was the bottom of the feather on the hat.) Which makes this outfit too severe for Christmas. It makes her look like she was going to a funeral.

I like the purse though. It's a cute shape. Can't put much in it. Perhaps, just a lipstick. But very cute, The boots are nice too.

Meghan looks so chic and put together, but I would have loved to have seen her wear something a little more festive so I'm underwhelmed by the outfit, however the handbag is delightful!

I love this! Definitely one of my favorite looks she’s worn. Also I notice she has on a ring on her right thumb, possibly the catbird threadbare ring

Meh. This is an extremely expensive but rather dull outfit. I think it looked even more dull because others dressed on the more festive side. I love the shape of this bag.

I loved Harry’s coat...he looked so dapper and the length, cut was just perfect on him. He did look mighty grumpy..perhaps he hadn’t had his morning tea!

The coat and dress are just ok, they would have been better in a brighter color--anything other than this dark navy that looks black. More appropriate for a memorial service than Christmas morning. I would also like to see maternity outfits with more shape.

I would love to see her in a beautiful plum or color, but I thought she looked very chic. I like her overall look. I liked Eugenie dress color. I think Meghan looked young and fresh. Tired of the black equals mourning comments. Black is beautiful, and not just for mourning.

Too Expensive, and she is not natural. I don't like. She seems on a film set. Sorry.

Once again, the cut & style of the clothing is gorgeous (the PURSE--LOVE IT) but navy blue yet again.

I had that same thought...I guess that is why the dress was bespoke? $10,000 for a navy outfit that could have been purchased similarly at Zara for less than $300. I don’t understand how no one in the RF is questioning these clothing purchases. I am not even British and even I am starting to get annoyed at the excess of it all.

Amen to that! I find it really sad the amount of money these people spend on clothing.

As mentioned, it appears to be a custom piece. She now has the luxury of designers making items to fit her.

Maybe the colour of the outfit is due to the advancement of pregnancy, more slim line a darker colour maybe?. Have to say though that the Queen looked beautiful. Her outfit was lovely. She outshone them all!

By now you should know she loves navy or black. Instead of complaining all the time why not move on? One has to be comfortable in what they wear and she seems to be in her element when in such colours. To others it's just navy/black...to some of us that love navy/black we enjoy seen these colours been brought to life. The duchess looks lovely. It's good to see her stick to her colour. I loved the whole look on her. Boots 👌👌

If I didn't know better, I would be asking, "Who died?" It's Christmas, Meghan! Not saying I don't like the outfit, but really wanted to see her in a festive outfit. She could and can where any color well. Why so morbid?

Really like her style; i love the colour even though many don't - it so suits her and she looks sophisticated but contemporary - love, love, love it

Meghan looks lovely as always. Black and navy are very good colours for her, underlining her classic, distinctive style. Very few women can wear dark colours without looking pale unless they use Body Bronzer. And I guess that Meghan has, like all member of royal families, a budget of which I think she is strictly adhering. Having a closer look at Kate's Closet prices, which are not as transparent as Meghan's, I think that Kate must have a very nice budget as well. And the idea of quality-conscious Meghan wearing a Zara dress for the British Royal Christmas Day service gives me a big smile on my face :).

When I looked at the picture quickly without seeing the heading I got a fright and thought someone had died, this outfit would not have been out of place at a funeral.

Not hugely keen on the boots - the way they are baggy. The fascinator is lovely, the coat is lovely, and the dress is fine -- but I thnk it's a tad too samey-samey and too dark (it actually all looks black) for a Christmas day public outing.

I think Kates bright coat, and others in blues etc look a lot more lively and jovial -- and detraact from the coldness of winter with bright colours that just feel more light and fun.

She doesn't look terrible. It's not a major miss. It's just... not quite situationally appropriate.

Why did Meghan feel the need to buy a new coat? Her Burberry tartan coat which she wore in Scotland would have worked well for the occasion and looked a bit more festive

So many people commenting on her selection of colors. Good grief.
She's been a fan of dark and natural colors for years and I doubt that will just suddenly change just because people bemoan it. I for one am a fan of her selection (and actually most of her selections). I also wear dark colors to a lot of events; it's slimming, hides accidental stains pretty well, can be paired well with other things and repurposed easily. So it makes sense to me that she would do the same.
I like how she sticks to the things she likes and doesn't seem to wear things to please others. I also suspect she chooses dark or neutral clothing so that she doesn't over shine others intentionally (i.e. the Queen). I would think that's very respectful of her to do so. I bet if she did wear something more colorful people would cast criticism on her for trying to steal the limelight. People are so fickle...
Also it should be mentioned that she has an income of her own from before the time she ever became a royal (she actually worked and was successful and still draws an income from that work). So I'm pretty certain she is using much of her own income to dress herself. Having said that, I don't think it should be up for discussion as to what she does with and how she spends her money. She's a grown up adult and can make her own decisions well enough and by all appearances she seems to be doing just fine.
Keep it up Meghan; you're making us Americans proud.

She had a career for years and never wore this caliber of clothing...mostly h&m, madewell, Jcrew, etc. Most of the outfits she has worn even on her blog were less than $1k in its entirety.

The bespoke, high end designers is completely new for her..since she has been married. Actually that engagement dress was very pricey...so perhaps since she has been engaged..but certainly not when she was an actress.

The balancing act Meghan must pull off is almost impossible. We want her to be perfect. Meghan had to build a completely new royal wardrobe within a very short time, selecting pieces of high quality that we will likely see for years to come. She had many style highlights in 2018. Just remember the over 30 different looks on her and Harry's 16 days royal tour last october! And not to forget her maternity dressing. And I have read that Meghan has paid her engagement dress by Ralph and Russo on her own income. I don't know if this is true or not. But I think, Meghan is doing just fine. I love her casual chic style but also love her classic, elegant style.

That’s not true. Meghan wore designer and even sat at fashion week for big names designers before seeing Harry. Jason Wu made her a custom dress years before she met Harry. She was regularly wearing name brands like Burberry to D&G while working on suits.

Her collection of Sentebal coats that go for 1k + each?? I’ve been following her since her suits days and she was in fact wearing many of the brands she does now. She just didn’t wear bespoke as much. The same could be said for literally every royal woman who has married in from Diana to Kate.

This constant criticizing of Meghan is really tiring. If you don't like her, just move on, but stop making people miserable who enjoy Meghan. I don't like Kate very much, but you will not find me criticizing her. Why should I spent my time with something so negative? It is not a competition, adults can like both woman. Where is the problem? In what sort of world do we want to live?

Anyhow, Queen Rania gave a lengthy comment concerning the cost of her wardrobe on her Facebook page and a US-magazine also printed part of it. She said that most of her clothes are actually either borrowed or offered as gifts or bought at a reduced price. I am certain that this is the way the designers handle all Royals.

Hey Michelle! I completely agree with you! I am from Canada but I think that on this side of the pond I am tired of people slamming Meghan for the most insignificant choice of fashion. I wish women would support her in the work she represents
