Meghan took the day off royal duties while Prince Harry explored Fraser Island as scheduled. The royal couple were runinted at Kingfisher Bay jetty in the late afternoon for a walkabout.

Meghan looks beautiful and this outfit is something I would personally wear on vacation, but the problem is Meghan is NOT of vacation. I don't think this dress was appropriate for her to wear for an official walkabout and to meet dignitaries and staff. It's a lovely outfit, just not for this official occasion.

I think she came out because people wanted to see her. I think people in that part of the world don't care because it's an island and this is what people wear. I did see it has a slit on the side but then some royals have thigh gate ever so often when the wind blows. She wasn't supposed to come out but she did and it made the people happy.

I live in Australia you wouldn’t be saying that Meghan shouldn’t have worn the grey and white linen dress with a slit on the side it’s been extremely hot not what people are used to in uk I know as I used to live there and as for your heatwave you had your summer that’s a walk in the park for us but the heat here is awful plus the 110 percent humidity now do you all get it

I like this look...but not for this occasion. She may be resting and at the spa...but she is still on a business trip so to speak.

I love the dress for a tropical holiday, but she is not on holiday as she is representing the Queen on an official visit. That 'split' should have immediately screamed 'not a good idea'. We live and we learn. I am glad that she is taking it a bit easier.

Meghan is pregnant and has been wearing "official duty" pieces WITH HEELS for a full on three months. She is on an island in the middle of an Australian spring and came out when she really wasn't planning to to meet the people. There is NOTHING wrong with what she is wearing. And we have all seen her legs and thighs before so it's not that serious. At least it's just a thigh.

We got see ALL of Kate's bits and pieces multiple times because she refused to wear weighted skirts.

I think she looks relaxed and lovely.

I hate how negative everyone is of this woman. None of us has to do what she does in front of millions of people to critique and pick at constantly.

Meghan knows what she signed up for and she knows everything she wears will be critiqued. She did plan to meet people. This was scheduled all along so she would have already had an outfit for it. Don't get me wrong, I think she looked amazing, and it's something I would wear, but Meghan needs to keep in mind she is a royal and her sartorial choices play a part in that role whether she likes it or not. The royal family is all about "standards" and I just think she let is slip this time. And for the record I think Meghan has been slaying in Fiji so I know she can bring her A-game when she puts her mind to it.

It doesn't matter that she's knows what she signed up for as that's not the point. The point is that there is NOTHING offensive about this outfit. She is a royal and she looks like a royal.

I was going off the information above that said she wasn't planning to come out for that particular event. So I was wrong on that.

The royal family doesn't even follow it's own standards with its own messy history and issues. She SLAYED this look. Chic and casual and not try hard. This is a new era and they knew what they signed up for when they wanted "fresh blood" in the mix. She look classy and relaxed and has far more of it than most.

I love how you critique Meghan and her needing to have standards WHILE Harry is over there showing off his boxer briefs. Clearly, they both are trying to be causal here. Give her a break. Or be correct about and it and don't just bash Meghan, Harry needs to pick up his outfit game as well.

I think Meghan looked lovely and very modern! The day was incredibly hot, and given that both the Duke and Duchess were not acclimatised to the temperature, I think the outfit most appropriate - particularly because it was an informal meet and greet of the locals. Whilst her dress had a slit, she was always aware of it and held it when the wind blew.

May I also thank the owner of this site - you do such a brilliant job in posting about the outfits and I was always so surprised with how quickly you could keep up with her many outfit changes whilst in Australia! Thank you :)
