I love this dress! The Duchess looks lovely tonight. Hair and makeup is nice as usual. Overall, this is an elegant look.

I continue to find Meghan's style picks a bit odd, certainly if it is Wickstead that might explain why there are so many yards of admittedly gorgeous fabric. But the style is far from flattering at the waist with the bulky gathering and I'm not sure a wide belt helps given Meghan's short torso. It seems odd to use such a relatively bulky fabric for such pleating.

I'm old enough to remember a time when this style of collar was old-fashioned, I appreciate it may be different for younger eyes, but I'm finding the skin exposure a bit at odds with the occasion, likewise flirty bows on the back of slingback heels. I love Meghan's hair worn like this, she looks beautiful and glowing, and the tiny ruby earrings are a lovely touch.

Her hair and makeup look great. I really like this neckline on her...but this dress isn’t flattering at all.

The neckline is very pretty but this silhouette and the heavy jacquard fabric makes her look short and fat when she is neither of those things! Also, to me the shoes look navy and they don't match the rest of the outfit. I love the Deneuve style so much, however, that I bought these for myself!

IMO Meghan is a Duchess in search of her regal style. She seems to do best when she sticks intuitively to what suits her best. But when she tries to get it right for the big occasions, she sometimes gets it wrong, and this is one of those occasions. The proportions of the dress are wrong for her tiny frame. It can't be easy, dressing under the spotlight of a critical public/press but she is a beautiful stylish young woman.

Oh, I'm thinking that the shoes are navy too!! Also, the dress is a bit heavy for her. If there wasn't so much fabric in the skirt, it'd been nicer.

Not flattering. I honestly don’t like the dress.

Hair and makeup are on point. I do so wish for a big jewelry moment on Meghan. May never get it! Dress looks beautifully made and I LOVE the neckline but not flattering on her. I think she needs someone to tell her the truth!

This is a rare miss for me, not a fan of this dress. Substantial amount of fabric and bulk, makes the overall look very heavy, the same with the size of the belt. Shoes may be described as black, but they photograph navy, not well blended with the dress at all. Heart hoop ruby earrings are lovely. Hair and makeup looked perfect.

The extra big round neckline that exposes a lot, the shortened sleeves, the too bag pattern on the fabric, way too heavy texture of fabric, huge belt over too many gathers at the waist....all this add to a look that is not flattering. Makes her look 50 lbs more than she is. Shoes are better on another outfit. Purse is good I guess. I'm trying to like the earrings but can't get the awful look of the dress out of my head long enough to appreciate the earrings. Nice try Meghan.

I saw elsewhere that this was a fabric that Erdem had used previously for a blazer with pants suit, and that is where this fabric belongs... it is too thick for this dress.

It could have been a nice dress in a lighter weight fabric, but it is reminiscent of the dress that she wore to the Lion King premier and this 1950's style structure is not a good style for her short waisted body as it emphasizes her apple shape.

She would look better in dresses with no defined waist, or at least with less volume.

The large portrait collar is flattering, but too much skin for the solemn occasion.

I don't mind the blue shoes, but a closed shoe would be more appropriate to the occasion.

I agree..this fabric would be perfect on a blazer. This is a serious observation...Erdem is a wonderful designer with beautiful fabric and workmanship. I feel this is the same situation with many other of her bespoke pieces...they are ill fitting, or just off..the fabric isn’t appropriate...or it is just not flattering on her. How are these major design houses continuing to do this? Are they just receiving sizing and requests and aren’t sure how they will be worn? They saw this finished product and knew it wouldn’t look good on her...do they just not want to say no? I feel there are so many beautiful pieces that just aren’t fitting right or don’t look right. Why aren’t these design houses saying...I see where you are going with this dress...we need to shorten about half an inch and nip it in right here and it will look fabulous.

Oh dear this dress is a shocker! It makes Meghan look so much bigger than she actually is. I also think the neckline is too low cut for the occasion. I hope we never see this dress again!

It appears that the designer just truncated the design near the waist versus resizing the bodice to fit a smaller frame. It is the same proportion issue with a green coat she wore from this designer when compared with the runway version, The collar looks much larger and the vee deeper due to not resizing to her stature.

I found this dress in the new Erdem collection, I think the Merill style is based on Meghan's bespoke dress:

Thank you for sharing Isa! I only recently checked the Erdem site to see if this dress had been added to the collection.
